Jimena International Music Festival – 2,3,4 July
This
hugely popular International Music Festival comes to its 8th
edition by returning to its roots, with a structure base
that includes classical, jazz and flamenco music, and also a
number of other musical and cultural events.
The
natural beauty of the village location combining with
exceptional music creates an unforgettable atmosphere.
The festival is now set to become one of the most
prestigious cultural events in Spain, attracting top class
musicians from all over the world.
In conjunction with the festival, there will also be
a street market and an exhibition of
contemporary art,
and to mark the end of the festivities, a spectacular
firework display from the village’s historic castle.

This
exhibition is fed by the myths and rituals of bullfighting
that fascinated this brilliant artist.
His work displayed in this exhibition shows how much
drama and beauty can be found in the taurina works of
Picasso.
Gaucin Farmers market – 1st
Saturday of each month.
Situated among the winding streets of the village, this
market is an interesting mix of hand made jewelry, organic
vegetables, homegrown fruit, local cheeses and hams,
clothes, natural herbal remedies and much more.
Cordoba’s International Guitar festival – 2nd
week July
The
Gran Theatro de Cordoba hosts the cities prestigious guitar
festival, featuring every style of music from classical to
jazz and flamenco.
Festival of the Virgin del Carmen – 16th
July
In
the evening of the 16th July, the towns and
villages of the coast parade their statues of the Virgin del
Carmen along the waters edge, and set sail on colorfully
adorned boats, accompanied by the blowing of horns and
bursts of fireworks.
A good place to see the fiesta is Estepona, where the
Virgin del Carmen is one of the town’s most beloved saints.

Events in Andalucia
Sanlucar de barrameda holds its world-famous horse-races in
the bajo de guia beach.
These are races at the beginning and towards the end
of the month, and are counted as some of the oldest races in
Europe. The
races are free to watch and attract visitors from all over
the globe. The
dates for this year are 1-3 and the 17 & 18th of

Ayamonte Music Festival
The
town of Ayamonte in Huelva province becomes the music
capital of Andalucia until August 19 for one week, with the
celebration of the 19th International Music
Festival. This
event holds ten concerts on three different stages, with
musical styles which range from the 16th century
to today, with jazz, flamenco, Portuguese and brazilian
music, as well as opera and other classical composers.
The Amador Jimenez Auditorium is one of the stages
where the festival is held and sees the participants of the
Andaluz Chamber Orchestra.
A chance to enjoy good music in one of
the most attractive places of the Huelva coastline.
Pop and Rock Festival Estepona
The
charming city of Estepona holds 6 days of festival with
daily concerts on the coastal promenade, 3 macro concerts in
the original bullring and an ending concert and party on the
creek of El Cristo.
There are also performances on the streets of the
city centre and marina, a Harley parade, Americana Culture
expositions and work shops in different venues.
Concerts of prestigious artists from all over the
world ensures that music lovers will all enjoy this
multicultural encounter. 14-23 August.
Malaga Summer Fair
During the Malaga Fair the city buzzes with colour and life
– all the locals join in the fun dressed in traditional
costume, with live music, flamenco dancing and food stalls
serving Andalucian tapas.
During the day, Malaga’s city centre is transformed with
horses carrying people dressed in elegant costume, numerous
food stalls serving local delicacies and the famous sweet
Malaga wine, with plenty of music and dancing.
In the evening, the feria is located at Cortijo de
Torres, with more than 200 pavillions open to the public,
each hosted by a different group or association.
There
are nights dedicated to flamenco dance and music, pena music
groups, pop and flamenco bands and competitions.
The port is lit up with a firework display turning
the city into a explosion of light and colour.
There
are numerous bullfights in Andalucia at this time of year.
