1. ARE TOWELS AND LINEN PROVIDED?

All properties have bathroom towels and bed linen provided that is changed on a weekly basis. Some houses, but not all, provide pool towels: please check this information on the house page.

2. WHAT ARE THE ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE TIMES?

Arrival times vary. Many houses are ready from 14.00pm but the larger houses are frequently not available until 16.00pm. Please consult the house page. Departure time is the same for every house 10.00am. This enables the cleaners and gardeners time to prepare. Occasionally a late departure can be made by special arrangement if there is no incoming guest on the same day. Please consult our staff in this matter. It may be subject to an additional charge depending on the time.

3. CAN ONE BOOK FOR LESS THAN A WEEK?

On the whole most of the houses are rented on the basis of a minimum of 7 nights. However there are a few that can be rented for a minimum of three nights or more. These are the Finca Alma ref 218, Finca Rasero ref 208, Finca La Majada ref 209, all of which are larger houses in our luxury section.
Occasionally a 5 or 6 nights stay is possible if a gap of this length of time becomes available after a previous occupant has had a longer than 7 night stay.

4. ARE COTS AND HIGH CHAIRS AVAILABLE?

All properties have a cot – generally the travel cot type. Some properties have high chairs but not all.

5. WHAT IS THE ACCESS TO THE PROPERTY LIKE?

This is rural Andalucia and as such many of the houses have tracks that lead off the tarmac road to the property. The tracks generally are all passable in a normal car but care needs to be taken and obviously they need to be taken at a slow speed. If you bring your own car and have any concerns then please consult us prior to booking. If a 4x4 vehicle is required it will be stated on the house page.

6. DO ALL HOUSES HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION?

More and more properties are installing an internet connection but so far not all of them. The house information will itemise whether it is available or not. Please note that in rural areas fast broadband is not available but for normal emailing and web browsing it is adequate.
It is important that you know how to configure your device before you come.

7. DO I NEED MOSQUITO REPELLANT?

The short answer to this is yes. Southern Spain does have mosquitos although not as much as in tropical countries. The weather is dry rather than humid which tends to inhibit their proliferation. They do not carry diseases such as malaria here. Mosquito repellant such as Autan spray is readily available in supermarkets, as are coils to light outside in the evening and plug in devices for the interior of the house.
It is not advisable to sit outside at dusk without some form of protection.

8. AND OTHER BUGS?

Insects such ants and wasps are more frequently encountered here than in northern European countries. It is advisable not to leave food out or unwashed dishes/ work-surfaces as this will attract them.
Ants are instantly destroyed with a product called Baygon (also readily available in supermarkets).Wasps return to their nests after dark which is one reason why most Spaniards will only eat outside late in the evening in the height of the summer.

9. HOW MANY OF US CAN COME?

The maximum number of people accepted at a rental property at any one time is stipulated in the description heading of each property and it is a condition of booking that this must be respected. Some properties have different levels of occupation and can be booked for either 6/8 or 10 for example, the price for each being adjusted to the number.

10. WHAT FACILITIES CAN I EXPECT?

The facilities which are available at each property are listed on its property description. The following are a few general points:

Gas, electricity and water: Gas, electricity and water for normal domestic consumption are included in the rental price. In some parts of Andalucía the water is not considered suitable for drinking and you will need to purchase bottled water.

A few of our more remote properties do not have mains electricity and use solar power or batteries to provide lighting. This is always indicated in the property description.

Heating: Firewood is not normally included in the rental price and you will have to purchase it locally. The owner or key holder will be able to advise you where. Properties that include a reasonable amount of firewood in the price have this fact indicated in the property description.
When central heating is indicated in the property description, it is included in the rental price unless stated otherwise. If it is not included, you will be charged for your consumption by the house owner at the end of your stay.

Air conditioning:  Relatively few properties in rural Spain have air conditioning as the air is generally very dry and humidity levels very low once one is a few miles inland from the coast. So, the summer heat is rarely uncomfortable. If properties have A/C this is always mentioned in the property description. Usually there will be an additional charge if this is required. Please use responsibly as A/C units can chew up a large amount of electricity so close doors and windows when in use.

Bed linen and towels: Bed linen and bathroom towels are included at all properties. Whether or not beach and pool towels (for outdoor use) are supplied is mentioned in the list of property facilities. If they are not, you will need to bring them with you. Cot linen is not normally provided and you are asked to bring this with you.

11. DO WE NEED TO PURCHASE INSURANCE?

We strongly recommend that all members of the holiday party obtain appropriate travel and personal insurance cover. Quite apart from the obvious protections it affords you (against accidents, illness, theft etc) it should also enable you to recover monies paid to us in the event of having to cancel your holiday due to ill health or other circumstances. We recommend that you check that this is the case with your insurance provider.

Spain has a National Health Service and it is important that participants from European Union countries obtain a European Health Card (this replaces the form E111 in the UK). For UK nationals this can be arranged through the government website https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/home.do which will entitle you to free medical service while in Spain. Without this clients may be requested to pay in full for any medical treatment received in Spain.

12. WHAT IS THE BREAKAGE DEPOSIT FOR?

Our properties require a security deposit. Those that do (and the amount) are clearly shown on the relevant property description.

Where applicable, the appropriate amount will be charged when you make your final payment (1 month before your booked date) and will be refunded to you (provided there are no breakages or outstanding payments) at the end of the week following your departure, normally by re-crediting your credit/debit card.

In some cases, the deposit is collected from you by the property owner when you arrive (in cash, of course!) and returned to you before you leave (provided there are no outstanding payments).
