Casa Cielo is an enchanting hideaway, just 5 minutes from the white
village of Gaucin, and surrounded by breathtaking
unspoilt
countryside. Set amongst
six acres of olive, carob, cypress and oak trees – a haven for
birdwatchers, walkers and riders.
Gaucin is steeped in history, walk up to the partly ruined castle
from which you will see vultures circling below, and the mountains of
Morocco in the distance.
The house is reached via a quiet track, just a short distance from
Gaucin. Steps lead down to
a pretty terrace, surrounded by ancient carob trees with a built in bbq
area. Jasmine and wisteria climb around the antique oak front door,
which leads to a pretty sitting room with sofa, comfortable chairs and a
table, with wood-burning stove at one end.
There is a dining table with chairs, and adjacent to this is the
kitchen, which has hand-made wooden work surfaces, an oven with hob,
sink, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave.
Antique tiled floors throughout, with lovely old Indian wall
hangings and colourful cushions give a warm and inviting feel.
Next to the kitchen is a bathroom with bath, wc, basin.
Doors open from the kitchen out to a lovely spacious south facing
covered dining terrace, with table and chairs and two sofas, enjoying
breathtaking views to the valley below.
Upstairs are two bedrooms – one with a double bed, the other with
two single beds.
Just below the dining terrace is a separate double bedroom with its own
terrace, and en suite shower room with
WC
and basin – a peaceful and magical place.
The swimming pool, measuring 8m x 4m, with steps down, is situated just
above the house, and has at one end a shady covered area with a
barbecue.
