In a quiet spot, half a kilometre outside the picturesque village of Gaucin, sits the Casa Sierra enclosed by its own five acre olive grove. It is surrounded by lovely countryside with excellent bird watching possibilities, whilst restaurants,

tapas bars, shops and the local market are just a few minutes away in the village. Gaucin has a community of painters and sculptors represented at the Gallery Atelier and an organic shop Pura Vida. 

 

The house was originally an old farmhouse that has been restored in a simple fashion in the local vernacular, with traditional terracotta floors and white

washed walls. The ground floor has four bedrooms, three with double beds and the fourth with two single beds suitable for children. The second master bedroom is reached through the fourth bedroom although both rooms have French windows that lead out into the grounds. There is plenty of cupboard

space throughout. Both bathrooms have bath/showers, basins and lavatories.  There is a laundry room with a washing machine and a further lavatory. 

 

Upstairs is entirely open plan, large and wonderfully light and airy. The kitchen area has everything to hand, equipped with a hob, oven, microwave oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. A lovely long dining table comfortably seats eight people and the inviting looking sofas look out onto the delightful views of wooded hills and mountaintops. Large French windows lead out onto a terrace where outdoor furniture is provided for dining al fresco. The swimming pool, which measures 8 m x 4 m, has a full filtration system and good quality wooden sun beds for basking in the sunshine.

 

In terms of location the house is ideally placed for exploring Andalucia. The beaches at Estepona and the Costa de La Luz are accessible as are the fascinating towns of Ronda, Jerez, Seville and Cadiz. Ferries also run daily from Algeciras to Tangier providing another dimension to one’s holiday. If an

early start is made, it is possible to do the round trip within one day. This house is an excellent choice either for families or groups wishing to take advantage of the activities in the area.
