LOS CAZADORES - Calle Rosal, 1

Los CazadoresLos Cazadores is perhaps the best fish restaurant in Ronda, at the top of Calle Espinel opposite the Centro Salud. There is no written menu, they serve whatever fresh fish and seafood is good that day.  The shellfish is excellent, try the fresh hake cooked in white wine and garlic, grilled prawns from Sanlucar de Barrameda, and their famous deep fried aubergines (berenjenas) drizzled with honey.

Most of the fish is cooked ‘a la plancha’ (on the hotplate) or ‘frito’ (fried). Open weekends and some weekdays, depending on the time of year, very reasonably priced.

RESTAURANT EL ESCUDERO - Next to the historic Ronda Bullring with breathtaking views...

This elegant baronial-looking 19th century villa was once a private house, and has three seperate white-walled dining rooms, all with huge windows overlooking the spectacular mountains beyond, and a lovely garden terrace for alfresco dining in the warmer months.  Modern Andalucian cusine using local produce: goose liver pate with Pedro Ximenez sherry, grilled filets of Iberian pork with a truffle sauce, freshwater trout with almond sauce and strips of serrano ham are just a few examples, and not to forget the mouthwatering hot chocolate souffle with magnolia-sented vanilla ice cream.

RESTAURANT TRAGA TAPAS - Innovative Tapa bar near to Ronda's Plaza Mayor and the famous Puente Nuevo

Traga Tapas is a welcome innovative addition to the historic town of Ronda –decoration is minimalistic and the wine bodega boasts various local Ronda wines, all of which can be sampled by the glass.  The tapas are far from traditional: salmon marinated in vanilla and lemon, wild mushrooms sauteed with Spanish onions garnished with serrano ham, gratin of fresh cod – truely tantalising and very reasonably priced – from 1,40 – 2,5€ per tapa. This is the tapas bar of the famous Restaurant Tragabuches nearby.

RESTAURANT TRAGABUCHES - Modern cooking in the ancient Andalucian town of Ronda

Tucked away in a cobbled alley to the right of the Parador, Tragabuches is the most stylish and well-known restaurant in the whole of the Sierras, and is the only Michelin-starred in the whole region. The chef prides himself with inventive Andaluz dishes with a very modern flourish such as monkfish in a vinagrette sauce with octopus and fresh vegetables, or grilled suckling pig. The tasting menu comprises a vast array of dishes representing the versatility of the chef and is a gourmets delight. You are treated to a selection of mouth-watering entrees to begin the meal.
