VILLA CORTIJO DE LA CONDESA

This extraordinary house is totally unique. It was built in the 1900s for a wealthy benefactor, the Duchess of Guadalevin. The property however has had modern improvements made to include air conditioning and central heating. The property has several acres of land stretching away down the valley, with views towards the mountains and the frequent presence of some beautiful Andalucian horses.

This villa is a whimsy of delight that will fascinate children and adults alike and will leave a lasting impression. Ideal for large parties or two or even three families together. Seville is an hour and a half away by car and Granada two hours.

The pricing is based on the number of bedrooms booked; there is a price for a minimum of five bedrooms and a further price for each extra bedroom.

HOUSE LAYOUT

The interior of the house has been well renovated. There is a good spacious kitchen with all the requisite appliances such as oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and separate freezer and a cool larder.

The dining room comfortably seats fourteen around long oak tables. There is a large sitting room with three huge squashy sofas, an open fire, flat screen television and music system.

In all there are eight bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms with baths and showers overhead. Six of the bedrooms have king-size double beds, one has a queen sized double bed and the final bedroom has twin beds. All have plenty of cupboard space.


OUTSIDE SPACE

This 'summer palace' as it is known as, is set in fantastical gardens with fountains, all in good working order. The exterior still has a faded charm to it, there are innumerable places to sit and just contemplate or read a good book to the soothing sounds of running water.

The water course that start with the Sphinx; a woman's head on a lion's body with butterfly wings, designed by the sculptor Enrique Marin Higuera, from where the water wends its way through pools and rivulets.

A huge covered pergola provides a wonderful spot for al fresco dinner parties. There is a built in barbacue, sink and small drinks fridge.

A pathway leads down to the lawned pool area which measures 8.5 metre by 4.5 metres, with roman steps and fully automatic filtration system. Beyond the pool area the pathway continues down to an extraordinary folly redolant of another more extravagant era, complete with original swing.
